What My Second Grader Will Learn

Second Grade Teachers

Sindy Hurt

My name is Mrs. Sindy Hurt. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education from Millersville University in Millersville, Pennsylvania and have been teaching for 19 years. I am really looking forward to working with the students and staff here at Imagine Classical Academy.

I believe that all students can and are willing to learn if they are given the opportunity. I feel that it is my job as a teacher to make sure that all students are given the chance to succeed. My goal this year is to provide every opportunity for your child to learn and succeed.

I was born in Texas and then moved to Oklahoma where I met my husband. After being married for five years, my husband’s job took us to York, Pennsylvania, which is about 30 miles from Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. We have one daughter who was born in Pennsylvania. Five years ago, she got married and moved here to Colorado Springs.  After visiting them several times, my husband and I decided to move here to be close to our daughter and son-in-law and to enjoy the beautiful area of Colorado.  We also two cats; Mittens, a black and white Tuxedo cat, and Maize, a grey Tabby cat.

In my free time, I love to watch old movies and just about anything science fiction. I enjoy being outside and going to yard sales and local antique shops. I also love to play the piano and sing at my church. My husband, daughter, son-in-law, and I love to go and watch the Air Force Falcons football and hockey. This year my husband and I will be sponsoring an Air Force Cadet, we are excited about this opportunity.

Gracee Liggett

Hello! Welcome to Room 120! It is with great joy that I welcome you to my 2nd grade classroom. This is my 5th year as a 2nd grade teacher at Imagine Classical Academy and my 8th year teaching. As we journey together this year, I am excited to watch how much your children will learn and grow. I believe in getting to know each one of my students and building relationships starting on day one. I look for areas of strength and interests that will help my students have a successful school year. I hope my classroom is an environment of constant collaboration, discussion and activities, where questions are essential to learning! I maintain a high level of instruction and have expectations that students deserve and a comfortable family environment that parents deserve.

A little about me… I was born in Denver, Colorado. I spent most of my childhood years in Aurora and my teenage years were spent between California and Wisconsin before joining the military after high school. I am married to a wonderful sports guy from Michigan. My daughter lives in North Carolina with her Marine husband, and my first granddaughter. In my free time, I enjoy reading mysteries and historical fiction, traveling, camping and playing games with my family.

As I partner with you in your child’s educational journey this year, please know I am always available as a resource to you. If you have any questions about what is taking place in the classroom or at our school, the best way to reach me is by email. I check my email multiple times throughout the day, including weekends. I do try to balance my home life with my work life, so please allow me at least 24 hours to respond to your message. I do not like to discuss grades or consistent behavior issues through email. If these become an issue- I will contact you directly to set up a meeting. I am honored to have the opportunity to partner with you in educating your child this year. I want to thank you in advance for your dedication to your child’s future and for choosing Imagine Classical Academy. I am looking forward to a fantastic year together! Many Blessings- Mrs. Liggett
