Fifth Grade Teachers

Carolyn Costantino

As a small child whenever anybody asked me, my dad always told me to say that I was born in Brook Army Hospital, Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. I was raised in a small town in Wyoming. While attending college at Grace University in Omaha, Nebraska, where I received my BS in Christian Education, I met my husband, Joseph, of 34 years. We have four wonderful and intelligent grown children, Aaron, who is married to Meagan (a dental assistant) and is a Paramedic; Gabriel, a flooring contractor; Sarah, who will be teaching English in South Korea this fall, and Benjamin who is a sophomore at Pikes Peak Community College. I have been in the classroom in some form or another most of my adult life. My favorite time was when I home-schooled my 4 children for nine years. This will be my 4th year teaching 5th grade at Imagine Classical Academy at Indigo Ranch. I love the emphasis on reading that we have with the implementation of Battle of the Books and Advanced Reading Challenge in 5th grade. Teaching History is one of my favorite things to do in the classroom. In my spare time, I like to read, cross stitch, crochet, walk/run with my husband, bake, eat out, and hike in the mountains.

My name is Jon Fairbanks. This is my third year at Imagine Classical Academy at Indigo Ranch. I have taught 5th grade every year and love it. I graduated from UCCS in 2013 with a bachelor’s in geography with an emphasis in education. I have been married to my wonderful wife for 12 years and have two children, Brooklynn and Parker. We love to camp and spend time outdoors doing exciting things.

Born and raised in Southern California, I moved to the promised land of Colorado about 15 years ago. I’ve been married for 33 years and have two adult sons one who lives up in Denver and the other in El Paso, Texas. At home we only have the fur babies living with us. I began my teaching career in a small, fishing town on the Oregon Coast where I taught third grade. Through the years I’ve taught in public schools and private parochial schools in the Los Angeles area, and have taught kindergarten through ninth grades. When I moved to Colorado, I began teaching in charter schools all of which use the Core Knowledge Curriculum, I so wish my children would have been able to learn what I’m teaching now. I have been teaching at Imagine since 2013 and I just love being with the fifth graders. In fifth grade they are independent, still like being with their teacher, and ask so many wonderful questions, and we have great discussions. When I’m not working for the classroom I enjoy doing various needle projects, cross-stitch, needlepoint, and lately crocheting. I also love reading, mainly science fiction/fantasy, but any good book will hold my attention. Lastly, my family is everything to me and I love being with them, adult children can be so much fun! Thank you for allowing me into your child’s life and know that I have a passion for teaching which has not diminished in all the years that I’ve been working in the educational field.

Hello! Welcome to 5th grade. I’m honored and excited to embark on this year of learning with your student. I’d like to share a bit about myself. I have a Bachelor of Science in Business and Marketing from Michigan Technological University and a Master of Arts in Teaching from The University of Northern Colorado. I’m the spouse of a recently retired Air Force officer and the mom of two teenage daughters. During our 20 years in the Air Force, nine of them were spent in Colorado Springs. I have also lived and worked in Michigan, Utah, Illinois, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. In my free time I enjoy hiking, cooking, baking, decorating, reading, and shopping with my girls. I can’t wait to get to know your student and have a wonderful 5th grade year. Let’s get learning!
